A delightful
new shop with a delightful owner to boot
has opened up in Downtown Longview, at
1162 Commerce Ave.
Elizabeth Hue
Mercantile, owned and operated by Sarah
Urquhart and her “shop dog”, Sam,
encourage visitors and new friends to
stop in and see what they have to offer.
A Northwest
native, Sarah dove into the antique
business after leaving a career working
in museums both in the Bay Area and
North Carolina. Making her journey back
to the West coast from the mountains of
North Carolina, Sarah decided to open up
Elizabeth Hue Mercantile after seeing
the for rent sign while driving along
Downtown Longview.
“I saw those
gorgeous windows, and just had to have
it for the shop”, exclaimed Urquhart.
She’s not
kidding, either. The store front boasts
floor to ceiling windows on one end, and
a beautiful French style window on the
other. “It’s unique, like we are”, she
said. Unique is right.
A concrete
windmill, old stone bird bath that looks
like it came from a movie set, a
mid-century iron lamp with damask shade,
variety of hutches, a 1911 General Store
Electric Scale, and much more comprise
the offerings of this vintage antique to
“modern cottage elements” store.
“I hope EHM
fills a niche as a home store that
provides unique items for people who are
interested in creating a personal spin
on their home environment”, stated
Urquhart. “I also provide direction for
those who may want a little help
realizing their vision for their homes.
We carry vintage, antique and carefully
curated collections of new and gift
items, hopefully something for
everyone!”
With the holiday
season approaching, Urquhart is excited
to offer some unique vintage seasonal
pieces, as well as modern items, so
people should be able to find something
special for their holiday home decor.
